Ahh, my girls. My Assets. We started our name as a joke, but it stuck, and now our mothers even refer to them that way, right after friending them on Facebook. :) I have talked about these ladies before, so without further ado, here we all are . . .

You probably imagine us sitting around, drinking tea and talking about our last weekend's wedding event, discussing centerpieces, composition and competition. Well, sometimes . . . but we usually sip wine and eat fancy appetizers and gourmet dinners made with fresh ingredients. We only bother with men who offer to pour our next glass before stepping out for the evening, or who stop by after work to grill us burgers and play with our children so we can enjoy our time around my dining room table. We laugh together as much as we cry and curse together. We huddle into bathrooms at parties to talk privately, and we bring each other back to the safe, warm place of knowing that no matter who fails you, as long as you have your ladies, it is enough.

Unfortunately there is only one day per year where we are encouraged to give thanks, but I choose to remind myself every day that what I have, the people I love, the people who love me, the children who depend on me, and the clients who trust me, are what have allowed me to experience gratitude at levels that aren't even safe anymore, because I could simply burst.
